Is pasta good for you?

I hear sometimes people say that pasta is not very healthy. That is not exactly correct. And that is good news for everyone who has thought they should not eat pasta at all!

Pasta can be a healthy source of energy and nutrients (iron, B vitamins) and is a staple in balanced diets, especially when choosing whole-grain versions for more fiber, pairing with vegetables/lean protein, and opting for tomatoes over creamy sauces to control fat and salt. The overall healthiness depends more on the additions than the pasta itself, which has a low glycemic index.

Have a look at my photo here. If you want to eat a very healthy pasta, try this:

Mix whole grain pasta with olive oil, dried herbs and pepper. Add sliced tomatoes, sliced avocado, mozzarella cheese and basil leaves. A pasta like this keeps you full for many hours and is at the same time giving you healthy energy, vitamins and antioxidants.

Enjoy a pasta dish every week!
